Remote-access comparison

ScreenConnect vs LogMeIn Resolve

Compare a technician-led remote-support purchase with Resolve’s wider endpoint-management scope, including concurrency, endpoint commitments and free limits.

START WITH YOUR BUYING BRIEF

Are you replacing a support tool or managing a fleet?

Shortlist ScreenConnect when the buying brief centres on technician-led remote access and support. Include LogMeIn Resolve, formerly GoTo Resolve, when the brief also needs endpoint monitoring, ticketing, automation or MDM in a selected plan. Compare the same remote-support entitlement first, then separately price the extra management scope. Resolve Free is limited RMM and access, not evidence that every paid support workflow is free.

An MSP retains its current RMM

Which remote-support capability is missing from the existing stack?

ConnectWise ScreenConnect: Quote the technician plan and required unattended-agent coverage.

LogMeIn Resolve: Separate standalone support needs from overlapping management features.

Avoid paying for a second management workflow before deciding which system owns device policy.

One IT team replaces several tools

Can incidents lead into the necessary device action?

ConnectWise ScreenConnect: Map ScreenConnect sessions to the retained ticketing and monitoring tools.

LogMeIn Resolve: Evaluate ticketing, support and monitoring in the relevant Resolve tier.

A broad product portfolio does not establish that every workflow is included in the quoted plan.

A five-device trial environment

What functionality remains after promotional access ends?

ConnectWise ScreenConnect: Record the paid ScreenConnect package required for the pilot’s support tasks.

LogMeIn Resolve: Separate Resolve Free’s limited RMM and access from trial-only capabilities.

The retained plan must be recorded before the evaluation account changes state.

A growing unattended fleet

How does the bill change as devices and technicians increase?

ConnectWise ScreenConnect: Model concurrent technicians, sessions and unattended agents under the selected plan.

LogMeIn Resolve: Model managed endpoints, plan minimums and remote-support licences.

Use the same twelve-month device forecast for both quotes.

Draw the boundary around the support purchase

List the tasks that trigger the purchase: helping a user, accessing an unattended workstation, investigating a device alert or applying a management policy. Then mark which tasks an existing tool already handles. A remote-support subscription and a broader endpoint-management programme can solve overlapping problems while requiring different operating changes.

Have the same technician perform one authorised incident workflow in each pilot. Include the handover to the ticketing or asset system, not just the moment remote control begins. Record any additional subscription, integration or manual copying needed to finish the proposed process.

Compare the plan you will keep

Trials can expose features that disappear or require another tier. Keep a feature-to-plan checklist and request a quote covering normal device growth and busy support periods. Separate endpoint commitments from support-agent concurrency so the invoice can be explained by the operational forecast.

Decide who will approve remote-access policies and maintain installed agents. Removing a customer, employee or old workstation should have a documented effect on credentials and unattended access. This proposed governance check is part of purchase acceptance, not a claim that either platform has been independently audited here.

Questions before you choose

Is GoTo Resolve now called LogMeIn Resolve?

Yes. The current official product is LogMeIn Resolve; older GoTo Resolve documentation and names still appear.

Is Resolve Free the full paid support platform?

No. The free offer has limited RMM and remote-access scope for up to five devices. Check the retained entitlement for broader support or management work.

Are ScreenConnect and the entire ConnectWise suite one subscription?

Do not assume so. This comparison covers ScreenConnect; other ConnectWise products and integrations need their own entitlement review.

Should every support team buy UEM?

Only if its required management workflows justify that scope. Begin with an operational brief and compare the plan needed to fulfil it.

Turn the comparison into your own evaluation

Use the same criteria and priorities for both products, keep unknowns unassessed and record the plan and evidence behind your ratings.

Keep the assumptions with the figures

Use the date, billing cycle, units and limits with each example. Check current account terms before purchasing. Unverified prices and model costs stay unpriced.
