Close vs Copper:
choose around how the team sells.
Compare Close and Copper for a small sales team: integrated calling versus Google Workspace, lead and contact caps, workflow tiers and qualified USD budgets.
Start with the workflow.
Then select the retained plan.
Close centres sales communication inside the CRM, with workflow automation on Growth and above. Copper centres customer work around Google Workspace, with task automation on Basic and broader workflows on Professional. Map the sales action and retained package rather than treating every automation label as equivalent.

A solo seller with 8,000 lead records
Can the entry record cap fit?
Close: 8,000 leads fit Solo’s 10,000-lead cap for its one user.
Copper: 8,000 contacts exceed Basic’s 2,500-contact cap; Professional has 15,000.
A Close lead can contain contacts; the two record types are not asserted to be equivalent.
Three sellers with 2,000 customer contacts
Does headcount or record volume select the next plan?
Close: Solo fails the three-user requirement; evaluate Essentials if automated workflows are unnecessary.
Copper: The contact count fits Basic; verify the required seats, permissions and Google connection.
Neither an import fit nor a seat count verifies duplicates, field mapping or sync.
Five sellers need automated follow-up workflows
Which packages should be quoted?
Close: Evaluate Growth for automated workflows.
Copper: Evaluate Professional for workflows; check Business if email series are required.
A task reminder is different from a multi-step communication journey.
Twelve sellers use AI-assisted outbound calls
Will included credits grow without a cap?
Close: Growth’s included pool caps at 15,000 credits/month, corresponding to its ten-user cap on allocations.
Copper: Quote the actual connected calling and AI tools; no equivalent native credit pool is inferred.
Credits are not calls or leads. Telephony and paid credit additions are separate, and no productivity result is claimed.
Compare the record you will actually import
Close Solo lists 10,000 leads, while Copper Basic and Professional list 2,500 and 15,000 contacts. These are distinct entities. Specify how one company, its contacts, opportunities and activity history map before counting migration capacity.
Test a duplicate person, multiple people at one company and an archived opportunity. Record the fields and relationships kept by the import and export. Do not assume a successful CSV upload retains the complete customer history.
Trace the required follow-up action
Close Growth includes automated workflows and its power dialler; Scale adds capabilities such as predictive dialling and lead visibility controls. Copper Basic task automation, Professional workflow automation and Business email series address different needs.
Write the trigger, action, stop condition and owner for one essential follow-up. Test replies, a reassigned deal and a removed employee. Workflow availability alone does not demonstrate reliable sync, cancellation or the team’s preferred working experience.
Use the term and the complete communication scope
The table uses unchanged users for twelve months and the checked annual-billing USD rates. It does not establish equal features or a total-price winner. Copper explicitly excludes applicable taxes and fees; Close’s usage charges must also be budgeted separately.
Close separates CRM subscriptions, telephony and AI credits. Current included credits reset monthly, do not roll over and cap the allocation from Essentials, Growth and Scale at ten users. Adding a twelfth user does not increase Growth’s included pool beyond 15,000 credits. Quote destination-specific calling, phone numbers and paid usage.
Complete one representative opportunity
In an authorised account, use a synthetic company, contact and deal. Log the required email or test communication, assign a follow-up, change the owner and review the manager’s report. Check the phone view where staff work away from their desk.
Test the exact Google Workspace or telephony connection, then export sample records and remove the test user’s access. This is a comparison brief; no vendor trial, call, contact import or live outreach was performed.
Questions before you choose
Is Close Solo suitable for three users?
No. Its checked capacity is one user. Evaluate a team package for three sellers.
Does Copper Basic include the same automation as Professional?
No. Basic lists task automation; Professional adds broader workflow automation, and Business adds email series.
Do Close Growth credits scale beyond ten users?
The current included allocation is 1,500 per user with a ten-user cap, for at most 15,000 credits per month. Additional credits and telephony have separate costs.
Keep the assumptions with the figures
Use the date, billing cycle, units and limits with each example. Check current account terms before purchasing. Unverified prices and model costs stay unpriced.
