Four worked buying briefs

These are hypothetical scenarios with explicit assumptions. They do not establish equal capabilities, measured usability or a negotiated price.

Fixed-user USD subscription bases; packages differ, tax and add-ons excluded
UsersLess Annoying CRM / twelve monthly feesNutshell Foundation / annual baseNutshell Pro / annual base

5US$900US$780US$2,520

Three people need contact and follow-up work

What is the qualified subscription-only budget?

Less Annoying CRM: Three × USD15 × twelve gives USD540 for twelve monthly base fees.

Nutshell: Three Foundation users at USD13 annual-billing equivalent give USD468; twelve monthly-billed USD19 fees give USD684.

These packages are not declared equivalent. Foundation’s open-lead cap and the exact follow-up permissions still need checking; tax, exchange costs and extras are excluded.

120 open leads are held by the same small team

Does unlimited contact storage remove the lead cap?

Less Annoying CRM: Test the pipeline and filtering with a representative set of active opportunities.

Nutshell: 120 is 20 over Foundation’s checked 100-open-lead limit.

A stored person can have no active opportunity or several. Confirm how closed, archived and duplicate leads count, then quote the required higher tier; do not delete genuine opportunities to manufacture a cap fit.

Five salespeople need automated stage follow-up

Does the selected package complete the workflow?

Less Annoying CRM: Five users have a USD900 twelve-month base; test the required integration and any additional fees.

Nutshell: Pro at USD42 × five × twelve gives a USD2,520 annual base; twelve USD49 monthly fees total USD2,940.

The USD900 amount does not establish a comparable automation bundle. Test the trigger, owner, task or message, and duplicate handling. Use the required workflow rather than declaring a winner from different tiers.

A sales team also sends newsletters to 1,000 contacts

Is CRM storage the same as campaign capacity?

Less Annoying CRM: Price and test the intended campaign service separately from CRM seats.

Nutshell: A 1,000-contact marketing band lists an 8,000-send monthly allowance; campaigns and their intended recipients consume sends.

Four full-list campaigns use 4,000 sends; nine use 9,000, exceeding that allowance by 1,000 before any other messages. Marketable contacts, unsubscribes and consent need the provider’s actual counting rules.

Count open leads independently of contacts

A contact is a person or organisation record. An open lead represents work still being pursued. Nutshell Foundation’s checked 100-open-lead limit remains relevant even when the CRM contact and storage description is unlimited.

Map the active lead list before migration. Record closed work that must remain searchable and imports that would create duplicates. Less Annoying CRM’s contact guidance recommends checking large databases; a marketing word such as unlimited is not a measured performance guarantee.

Keep billing period and required tier together

The examples use current USD fees. Less Annoying CRM lists USD15 per user/month. Nutshell Foundation lists USD13 per user/month with annual billing or USD19 monthly; Pro lists USD42 annually billed or USD49 monthly. No official GBP price is inferred by currency conversion.

A fixed three- or five-user calculation assumes unchanged rates and count for twelve months. Taxes, foreign-exchange costs, additional marketing services, communications, prospecting and consulting are outside these base amounts. Request the complete service list before committing.

Test the owner and the next step

Define one real follow-up rule: a stage change, a new owner, a due date and an action. Nutshell places lead assignment in Growth and sales automation in Pro. The lowest tier is not a stand-in for the required automation package.

In either tool, test what happens when a record already exists, an owner leaves or an integration fails. A manually created task, an automated task and a campaign message have different operating and consent requirements. No vendor automation trial or customer message was sent for this article.

Treat outcomes as usage rather than promised time saved

Nutshell distinguishes metered monthly AI outcomes from lightweight assists. A summarised meeting, lead research and generated campaign are examples of different work. Confirm the allowance, sharing scope and what happens at its limit; multiplying a displayed allowance by seats is not assumed here.

Do not budget on the vendor’s hours-saved marketing claims without observing the team’s own process. Review a synthetic result, correct an error and confirm who owns the final action. No matched AI quality, sales lift or time-saving benchmark is established.

Run the same lead and export exercise

Import synthetic contacts, create an opportunity, log a note and assign a follow-up. Ask a second test user to find the task and check access to restricted records.

Export the contacts and the linked work you intend to keep. Check that the selected retained plan supports the process after the trial ends. The scenarios and subscription arithmetic are hypothetical; no CRM trial account was created for this comparison.

Questions before you choose

Does Nutshell Foundation allow unlimited open leads?

No. The current pricing FAQ lists a 100-open-lead Foundation limit separately from unlimited CRM contacts.

Is the Less Annoying CRM illustration a GBP price?

No. Its published USD15 per-user monthly rate is kept in USD. Exchange costs and applicable taxes are outside the worked base.

Does a Nutshell CRM seat include every marketing cost?

No. Marketable-contact and sending capacity, optional Marketing or Engagement services and other extras need separate budgeting.

Do the examples prove which CRM is faster or more effective?

No. They use stated package rules and fixed-user arithmetic. No matched usability, AI quality or sales-results benchmark was run.

Keep the assumptions with the figures

Use the date, billing cycle, units and limits with each example. Check current account terms before purchasing. Unverified prices and model costs stay unpriced.
