Choose the application before the price
Visio in qualifying Microsoft 365 commercial plans provides basic web capabilities. Plan 1 is web-based, while Plan 2 adds the desktop application and advanced scope. Standalone desktop editions are another arrangement. An existing Microsoft subscription does not establish full desktop Visio entitlement.
Lucidchart also distinguishes a limited free offer from paid tiers. Count who must edit, who only reviews and what integrations or administration are required. Keep those roles and the exact offer with the comparison rather than pricing every participant as an identical user.
An image export is not an editable handover
Choose the target application and source format before testing exchange. Include connectors, shape metadata, page structure and any review information the next owner needs. Inspect what survives and record any manual repair, especially for specialised diagrams.
For a simple standalone file workflow, also inspect draw.io in the diagramming category. Its free editor has a different storage and integration boundary from a managed collaborative document service. The right result is a maintainable diagram and a known owner, not the highest template count.
