Albato vs Make:
transactions, credits and automation budgets.
Compare Albato transactions with Make credits, including free capacity, multi-step usage and what happens when allowance runs out.
Choose around your work.
Check the retained plan.
Albato counts successful actions after a trigger as transactions. Make bills credits for actions, with different rules for some modules and AI features. A run is therefore not a universal billing unit. Count each step in a representative workflow and record failure, retry and overage behaviour before comparing package prices.
Seven differences that change the shortlist
| Buying question | Albato | Make |
|---|---|---|
| Usage unit | Successful steps after the trigger | Credits for module actions; some features consume more |
| Trigger treatment | Trigger itself does not consume a transaction | Reading or webhook actions can consume credits |
| Free allowance | 100 transactions | 1,000 credits per month |
| Free workflow boundary | Five active automations; two steps each | Confirm required scenario and scheduling limits |
| Paid allowance selection | Choose feature plan and transaction package | Choose plan, credits and feature requirements |
| Allowance exhaustion | Paid extra transactions can keep workflows running | Scenarios pause without credits unless extra purchasing is configured |
| Collaboration | Teams is labelled coming soon | Specify shared ownership and role requirements |
Four worked buying briefs
These are hypothetical scenarios with explicit assumptions. They do not establish equal capabilities, measured usability or a negotiated price.
| Buying brief | Albato | Make |
|---|---|---|
| Forty runs with two successful actions each | Two post-trigger actions produce 80 transactions. | Count trigger and action credits from an execution trace. |
| A workflow with three post-trigger actions | Confirm step scope; Free’s two-step boundary may force paid use. | Evaluate the exact modules and free-plan restrictions. |
| A busy launch exceeds the paid allowance | Budget extra transactions and check the account’s overage terms. | Configure an appropriate extra-credit option or expect a pause. |
| Two maintainers sharing credentials and changes | Do not assume the coming-soon Teams offer is available. | Select the plan and roles that support shared maintenance. |
Forty runs with two successful actions each
What simple estimate is possible?
Albato: Two post-trigger actions produce 80 transactions.
Make: Count trigger and action credits from an execution trace.
This arithmetic excludes additional branches, retries and AI work.
A workflow with three post-trigger actions
Does Free fit the structure?
Albato: Confirm step scope; Free’s two-step boundary may force paid use.
Make: Evaluate the exact modules and free-plan restrictions.
A monthly allowance alone does not settle a workflow-length restriction.
A busy launch exceeds the paid allowance
What could happen next?
Albato: Budget extra transactions and check the account’s overage terms.
Make: Configure an appropriate extra-credit option or expect a pause.
Use account limits and alerts to avoid an unexpected operational stop or bill.
Two maintainers sharing credentials and changes
What must be verified?
Albato: Do not assume the coming-soon Teams offer is available.
Make: Select the plan and roles that support shared maintenance.
Assign ownership and test a maintainer handover before relying on production automations.
Build the same event ledger
Write one incoming event and every action it causes. Include searches, transformations, loops and branches. If a branch sends a message only for some records, estimate its frequency using a representative workload rather than assuming every run is identical.
Record the vendor’s actual billable events from an authorised test. Add a missing-field case, a duplicate event and a temporary API error. Note whether retries create more usage or duplicate records.
Budget for a safe failure
Set a usage alert and define what the operator should do when it fires. A workflow that stops at a cap needs a queue-recovery plan; a workflow that continues on paid extras needs a spending boundary.
Replay one failed synthetic event and verify the downstream result exactly once. Confirm which account owns credentials and who can disable the workflow. Calculate a normal month and a peak month from the tested ledger, keeping subscription, usage and AI charges separate.
Questions before you choose
Is one Albato transaction equal to one Make credit?
No. Their counting rules differ, including trigger handling and some module or AI usage. Use the same event ledger and actual execution details.
Can 100 workflow runs fit Albato Free?
Only if successful post-trigger actions and all applicable limits fit the 100-transaction allowance. Two such actions per run would use 200 transactions for 100 runs.
Does Make continue when credits run out?
Scenarios do not continue without credits. Eligible paid plans offer extra-credit purchasing options; inspect the account settings and recovery plan.
Keep the assumptions with the figures
Use the date, billing cycle, units and limits with each example. Check current account terms before purchasing. Unverified prices and model costs stay unpriced.
