STORE CAPACITY

BigCommerce vs Ecwid:
count sales and products separately.

Compare BigCommerce and Ecwid by current sales thresholds, catalogue caps, payment-provider fees and adding a store to an existing website.

START WITH YOUR BUYING BRIEF

Choose around the work your business needs.

BigCommerce’s self-serve plan placement depends on Inclusive GMV as well as required capabilities. Ecwid packages have explicit product caps and support adding a store to an existing site. A small catalogue can have high sales, while a large catalogue can have modest sales; count both before choosing.

These are hypothetical scenarios with explicit assumptions. They do not establish equal capabilities, measured usability or a negotiated price.

Ten products and US$30,000 gross order value over twelve months

Do both initial capacity checks fit?

BigCommerce: Applying the stated 10% reduction gives US$27,000 Inclusive GMV, below the Core threshold.

Ecwid: Ten products fit Starter exactly.

Assume eligible gross order value and no other orders; confirm the account dashboard. Features and payment fees remain separate.

One hundred products and US$40,000 gross order value over twelve months

Does a small catalogue guarantee the entry plan?

BigCommerce: US$36,000 Inclusive GMV exceeds Core’s US$30,000 threshold; examine Growth.

Ecwid: One hundred products fit Venture exactly.

Sales volume and catalogue size use different units; this is not an equal-feature price comparison.

One hundred and one products with the same sales

Which constraint changes?

BigCommerce: The same US$36,000 Inclusive GMV still selects the Growth capacity range.

Ecwid: 101 exceeds Venture’s one-hundred-product cap; examine Business.

Check how imported and variant products are counted before migration.

2,600 products and US$120,000 gross order value over twelve months

Will the middle packages hold this business?

BigCommerce: US$108,000 Inclusive GMV exceeds Growth’s threshold; examine Scale.

Ecwid: 2,600 exceeds Business’s 2,500-product cap; examine Unlimited.

A plan may be required sooner for a feature or account role; the calculation only addresses these caps.

Keep currency and renewal term explicit

BigCommerce lists Core at US$29, Growth at US$79 and Scale at US$299 per month on annual billing. Monthly-billed subscriptions are US$39, US$105 and US$399. These USD amounts exclude tax and additional fees; they are not GBP conversions.

Ecwid’s live display was regional EUR pricing. No GBP subscription or like-for-like price winner is inferred. Existing-account terms can differ from a new purchase.

Use the account’s GMV measurement

The worked table uses hypothetical gross order value reduced by ten percent. Core and Growth thresholds apply over the trailing twelve months; Scale uses a monthly overage boundary. Do not compare these measures directly with net revenue or bank receipts.

Ecwid’s ten, one hundred and 2,500 product caps are catalogue limits. Validate product-count rules, variations and required digital-selling or staff tools as separate checks.

Check the provider on each order

BigCommerce’s Open Payment Provider fee is distinct from its subscription, GMV overage and the processor’s own charges. An order actually processed by an Embedded provider avoids that specific platform fee; displaying that provider as an option is insufficient.

For hypothetical US$1,000 of eligible Open-provider Inclusive GMV, the isolated fee is US$20 on Core, US$10 on Growth or US$6 on Scale. This is not a total invoice. Ecwid lists no platform transaction fee, but payment-provider and app charges can still apply.

Test the current site and required order workflows

For Ecwid, evaluate the embed on the existing site and its phone layout. For either platform, check product options, delivery rules, tax setup, cancellation, refund and export using synthetic data.

Reconcile the relevant plan counters and the actual payment-provider attribution. No store account, live order or migration test was performed for these examples.

Questions before you choose

Does BigCommerce still use Standard, Plus and Pro?

The current new-purchase packages use Core, Growth and Scale. Legacy annual accounts and contracted terms need a separate account check.

Does Ecwid charge no fees at all?

Ecwid lists no platform transaction fee. Subscriptions, payment processing and optional apps can still cost money.

Can 101 products fit Ecwid Venture?

The checked Venture cap is one hundred products. A 101-product catalogue exceeds it; confirm the counting rules and a suitable higher package.

Keep the assumptions with the figures

Use the date, billing cycle, units and limits with each example. Check current account terms before purchasing. Unverified prices and model costs stay unpriced.
