How much is Photoshop in the UK?
The reviewed regular UK individual Photoshop price is £21.98 per month including VAT, on an annual plan billed monthly. Adobe also lists annual prepayment at £262.51. Photography 1 TB includes desktop Photoshop and Lightroom at £19.97 per month including VAT, annual and billed monthly.
These are different payment arrangements and bundles. The UK Photoshop plan page and Photography comparison were checked on 16 October 2026. A temporary introductory price, an existing subscription or a business offer can change your actual quote. Start with the required app, then compare the whole paid term.
Which plans include desktop Photoshop?
| Route | Access to investigate | Decision boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Photoshop single-app subscription | Desktop Photoshop plus web and mobile access | Check the included services and the actual payment arrangement. |
| Photography 1 TB | Photoshop, Lightroom and Lightroom Classic | Evaluate the photo-library workflow and cloud storage you need. |
| Firefly Pro / Mobile and Web route | Photoshop on web and mobile | A web/mobile entitlement does not establish desktop Photoshop access. |
| Free Photoshop mobile app | A stand-alone mobile editor with optional premium features | Check your device and the feature you need; this is not a permanent free desktop licence. |
The plan matrix distinguishes desktop from web/mobile access. Adobe’s mobile FAQ explains the separate mobile and web arrangements. Keep the exact app and retained plan in your brief. If your need is batch photo organisation, read the Lightroom profile; if it is detailed image composition, start with the Photoshop profile.
Compare the payment schedule, not just the monthly headline
Consider one fictional editor with no existing entitlement. The three alternatives below assume twelve fully paid periods at unchanged reference rates. They exclude trials, introductory offers, early cancellation, renewal changes and optional costs. They are alternatives, not amounts to add together.
| Alternative | First base payment | Base payments over 12 paid periods | Commitment and payment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photoshop — annual, billed monthly | £21.98 | £263.76 | 12 monthly payments within an annual commitment |
| Photoshop — annual, prepaid | £262.51 | £262.51 | One annual payment |
| Photography 1 TB — annual, billed monthly | £19.97 | £239.64 | 12 monthly payments within an annual commitment |
The prepaid Photoshop reference is only £1.25 below twelve regular £21.98 payments in this illustration. It moves the base cash payment to the start of the term. The Photography example is £24.12 below the regular single-app monthly-billing total, but includes a different bundle. Price alone does not establish equivalent features or the right arrangement.
The downloadable ledger has 36 rows: twelve periods for each alternative. In the prepaid case, periods 2–12 show £0 further base payments because the annual amount has already been paid. They are not free months. Keep the checkout’s actual offer separately in the plan-review sheet; the software cost calculator can help model a quoted schedule.
Does paying monthly mean you can leave after one month?
An annual plan billed monthly still has an annual commitment. Adobe’s reviewed individual subscription terms distinguish that arrangement from month-to-month and annual-prepaid subscriptions. For the annual contract billed monthly, the stated cancellation terms include a full refund within 14 days of the initial order, then a charge of 50% of the remaining contract obligation after that window.
Read the terms attached to your actual offer and retain the cancellation confirmation if you cancel. The ledger is a full-term subscription illustration, so it does not calculate an early-exit charge. A visible introductory monthly offer should not be multiplied by twelve unless the offer actually covers all twelve periods. Existing subscribers, resellers, education and teams can have different commercial scope.
Is Photoshop free, or can you buy it once?
The individual Photoshop desktop trial is seven days and converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled. The trial starts at sign-up under the reviewed subscription terms; set a decision point before the actual end rather than waiting until a project deadline. A subsequent refund window is different from additional free trial days.
Adobe describes Photoshop as a subscription rather than an outright purchase. On mobile, its free app and premium-feature FAQ describes a stand-alone free app with paid premium options. Check the exact feature on your device. For a simpler browser design task, explore the Adobe Express profile and Canva versus Express. For a different desktop editing shortlist, read Photoshop versus GIMP.
Can you still buy the Photography 20 GB plan?
Adobe’s Photography FAQ says the 20 GB plan stopped being offered for new purchases on 15 January 2025. It says existing subscribers can retain it while actively subscribed. A historic 20 GB price is therefore not a current new-customer quote.
For a new purchase, compare the currently offered arrangement and required applications. For an existing account, inspect that account’s actual entitlement and renewal terms before changing it. The Lightroom overview also distinguishes the cloud-focused application from the desktop-focused Classic workflow.
Use the same editing brief before choosing a plan
This fictional exercise proposes a product composition with an editable master, two output sizes, a transparent cutout and an editable handover. Use a permitted test image and invented copy. The sizes and acceptance conditions are editorial requirements, not Adobe limits or measured results.
| ID / deliverable | Proposed requirement | Acceptance check |
|---|---|---|
| P01 — Editable master | Prepare a proposed 2400 × 2400 px composition with separate subject, background and editable text layers. | Reopen the saved working document; change the text without rebuilding the image. |
| P02 — Square export | Produce a 1200 × 1200 px image from the same composition. | Inspect the pixel dimensions, text and subject at the final output size. |
| P03 — Portrait export | Adapt the composition to 1080 × 1350 px without stretching the subject. | Inspect the new crop; record any manual layout changes. |
| P04 — Transparent cutout | Export the subject alone as a PNG with transparency. | Place it on a contrasting background and inspect the edge and alpha channel. |
| P05 — Editable handover | Give a controlled copy of the working document to an authorised receiving editor. | Record the receiving app/version and retained entitlement; reopen and edit the text layer. |
A finished JPEG can look correct while providing no editable text or transparent cutout. Ask the receiving editor which working file, fonts, linked assets and app/version they need. Test a controlled copy through the intended handover. If the brief needs generative editing, add the exact operation and model to the test, then check retained access and credit consumption separately.
No app, trial, purchase, edit or export was operated for this example. The worksheet leaves observed results blank so you can record your own evidence. A product’s marketing feature name is not a passed acceptance check.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Photoshop cost in the UK?
The reviewed regular UK individual Photoshop reference is £21.98 per month including VAT, annual and billed monthly. Twelve unchanged fully paid periods total £263.76. The displayed annual-prepaid reference is £262.51. Confirm the actual offer and included services.
Does the Photography plan include desktop Photoshop?
The reviewed Photography 1 TB plan includes Photoshop alongside Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. Its UK annual-billed-monthly reference is £19.97 including VAT per month. Check the current plan, account entitlement and required workflow before buying.
Does Firefly Pro include Photoshop on desktop?
The reviewed Firefly Pro card lists Photoshop on web and mobile. Do not infer desktop Photoshop access from that wording; confirm the exact app entitlement in the selected plan.
Is there a permanent free Photoshop desktop licence?
The reviewed individual desktop offer is a seven-day trial followed by paid subscription unless cancelled. Free mobile editing with optional premium features is a separate arrangement.
Can new customers buy the Photography 20GB plan?
Adobe says the Photography 20 GB plan stopped being offered for new purchases on 15 January 2025. Existing subscribers can keep it while actively subscribed; a historic price is not a current new-customer quote.
Is Photoshop annual prepaid cheaper than paying monthly?
At the reviewed regular references, £262.51 annual prepayment is £1.25 below twelve £21.98 instalments totalling £263.76. This assumes unchanged full rates and excludes introductory offers, trials, cancellation and optional costs; prepayment brings the base cash payment forward.
Does annual billing paid monthly mean a monthly contract?
No. Payment frequency and contract commitment are separate. Review the annual contract and cancellation terms attached to the actual offer before relying on a monthly instalment price.
