BUYING COSTS & PLAN CHOICES

Odoo Accounting costs: One App Free, Standard or Custom?

Choose Odoo Accounting by app scope, internal users, multi-company needs and deployment. Separate licence, hosting and implementation costs.

In this guide
  1. Choose the operating model first
  2. Map the requirement to a plan discussion
  3. Use one-company and group scenarios
  4. Keep the subscription separate from the project
  5. Verify the retained scope before rollout

Choose the operating model first

Odoo’s checked pricing page distinguishes One App Free on Odoo Online, Standard with all apps on Odoo Online, and Custom with additional deployment and customisation options. One App Free lists unlimited users for the selected app.

The important boundary is the required scope. Needing accounting alone is different from needing several independently selected applications, external API access or a multi-company setup. Confirm the dependencies included with the selected app rather than counting every installed technical module as a separate purchase.

Map the requirement to a plan discussion

This is a scoping aid, not a finding that a particular database qualifies for free access.

Use one-company and group scenarios

Imagine a fictional retailer that initially needs bookkeeping for one business. List bank feeds, chart of accounts, opening records and reporting requirements. Ask the supplier to demonstrate those needs on the intended plan and local configuration.

Now add a second legal company, a separate sales workflow and an external stock connection. Revisit the app, multi-company and API boundaries. The earlier free-app conclusion cannot simply be carried into this expanded brief. Record what changed so a larger quote can be assessed against actual requirements.

Keep the subscription separate from the project

Price data cleaning, opening balances, migration, training and configuration as project work. For custom work, name the supported version, maintenance owner and update process. A per-user rate does not price a completed accounting rollout.

For the subscription model, record paid internal users and the applicable billing period. Do not automatically charge every customer portal contact as a full employee user, or assume an implementation contractor remains a permanent paid seat.

Verify the retained scope before rollout

Use synthetic transactions to rehearse an invoice, payment and correction. Ask the accountant to validate the intended records and reports before moving live books.

Continue with the Odoo Accounting profile, Odoo CRM guide and implementation checklist. Keep observed results and quoted prices distinct from the initial plan hypothesis.

Frequently asked questions

Is Odoo Accounting always free for unlimited users?

One App Free has a defined Odoo Online scope. Check the selected app, dependencies and expanded requirements before assuming the offer covers the project.

Does the Odoo Custom user price include Odoo.sh hosting?

The checked pricing page states that Odoo.sh hosting is not included. Price the hosting route and implementation separately.
