Adyen vs Worldpay
Compare Adyen and Worldpay for the exact online payments product, checkout integration, selling channels, reconciliation and the commercial terms to request.
Which workflow fits your team?
Consider Adyen when its online integration and connected commerce scope meet the merchant’s operating brief. Consider Worldpay when the specific Worldpay eCommerce or enterprise service fits that brief. Name the Worldpay product before comparing: its UK small-business offering and wider enterprise services should not be treated as one universal package.

Four worked buying briefs
These are hypothetical scenarios with explicit assumptions. They do not establish equal capabilities, measured usability or a negotiated price.
| Requirement | Proposed exercise | Accept when |
|---|---|---|
| Product scope | Are both proposals describing the same online selling requirements? | Every mandatory requirement maps to a named capability or unresolved gap. |
| Order outcome | Can the order system explain a failed or interrupted checkout? | The payment and order states agree and the operator can explain the exception. |
| Finance handover | Can payment references be reconciled to the intended order? | The finance owner can trace the sample order and payment without an assumed integration. |
| Migration decision | Which existing data and integrations can actually move? | Each dependency has an accepted migration route, replacement or explicit gap. |
Product scope
Are both proposals describing the same online selling requirements?
Adyen: List the retained integration, methods and channels.
Worldpay: Name the specific Worldpay product and retained scope.
Every mandatory requirement maps to a named capability or unresolved gap.
Order outcome
Can the order system explain a failed or interrupted checkout?
Adyen: Use a documented Adyen test case and controlled order.
Worldpay: Use the selected Worldpay product’s documented test case.
The payment and order states agree and the operator can explain the exception.
Finance handover
Can payment references be reconciled to the intended order?
Adyen: Inspect representative test reporting and reference mapping.
Worldpay: Inspect equivalent product-specific reporting and references.
The finance owner can trace the sample order and payment without an assumed integration.
Migration decision
Which existing data and integrations can actually move?
Adyen: Request a written decision on each required token or connection.
Worldpay: Request the equivalent decision for the target Worldpay product.
Each dependency has an accepted migration route, replacement or explicit gap.
Keep Worldpay product boundaries visible
Start each proposal with its product name and intended merchant region. Worldpay’s UK online page distinguishes small-business eCommerce from enterprise online services. Ask which interface, methods, tools and support arrangement the proposal actually contains.
Adyen’s integration choices also need a specific implementation brief. Compare the supported purchase journey and back-office handover using the same order references and required channels. A provider’s global portfolio does not prove identical scope in an individual merchant contract.
Treat migration as a separate acceptance decision
Inventory the ecommerce connections, payment references, stored-payment arrangements and reporting dependencies already in use. Ask the responsible provider and integration owner what can move, what must be rebuilt and what requires customer action. Do not assume stored credentials are portable.
Include implementation, support ownership and the complete transaction mix in the commercial review. Adyen identifies a possible minimum invoice; Worldpay terms depend on the selected product and proposal. This page does not report a processor reliability, approval-rate or total-cost benchmark.
Questions before you choose
Is Worldpay eCommerce the same as all Worldpay enterprise services?
No. The UK material distinguishes small-business and enterprise online offerings. Identify the exact product and contract before comparing capabilities or fees.
Can existing saved payment credentials automatically migrate?
Do not assume they can. Ask both providers and the integration owner for an approved migration route and the handling of unsupported dependencies.
Does a supported payment method mean it is enabled for every merchant?
No. Confirm the merchant account, market, product, integration and any activation requirements for the specific method.
